Lafayette Heritage Trail Park, located next to Tom Brown Park, spans over 795 acres along the Lake Lafayette system. Once a natural wet prairie, the area has a long history of use by Native Americans and farmers. Dams built in the 1950s divided the lake into three sections, each with its own unique character, including the open waters of Piney Z Lake and the cypress-filled Lower Lafayette.

The park offers fishing, walking, biking, wildlife viewing, and peaceful spots for reflection. Amenities at the main entrance include picnic shelters, a playground, restrooms, drinking water, and a bike wash. The land was acquired in the 1990s using Florida Forever Funds and is jointly managed by the City of Tallahassee and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
