Founded in honor of the Challenger STS-51L crew, the Challenger Learning Center was created to carry on the mission of inspiring students through space and STEM education. Opened in 2003 in downtown Tallahassee, the Center is the K-12 outreach facility of the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering and serves 40,000 to 60,000 students each year across a wide tri-state area.
The Center offers hands-on, standards-based educational programs designed to spark interest in science, technology, engineering, and math. In addition to student programs, the Center features an IMAX theatre and planetarium, providing engaging and educational experiences for the public and visitors alike.
