Lake Jackson

Named for the 4,000-acre lake on Tallahassee's northwest side, the Lake Jackson neighborhood offers a bucolic, resort-like atmosphere with larger homes and beautiful Old Florida landscapes. The shallow lake—part of the Lake Jackson Aquatic Preserve since 1973—is nationally known for largemouth bass fishing. Narrow, tree-lined streets wind through the neighborhood, which maintains a country feel while providing easy access to shopping along US Highway 27. Leon High School, Florida's oldest public high school, serves the area.
